Since 1945, our exceptional team of day camp professionals has devoted itself to the enjoyment of our campers in a fun-filled, educational, and safe environment. Our success—your child's great summer memories—is directly attributable to the joyous dedication of our administrators, counselors, teachers, and specialists. Do you have an aspiring actor, swimmer, artist or golfer at home? Or a child who enjoys a wide range of activities? Our American Camping Association (ACA) accredited camp offers a full selection of programs and activities for all youth, ages 10-months to 11th grade. From traditional to sports camps, from theatre to travel camps, plus a wide variety of specialty camps, Camp Jaycee offers a summer of fun for every interest and age. Camp Jaycee serves the entire San Diego County. The JCC is committed to expanding community access to recreational and social programs for children with disabilities. Due to the overwhelming response for inclusive opportunities at Camp Jaycee, all families will be asked to complete the enclosed application. Please indicate that your child has special needs by checking the inclusion section on the application and submit by March 15, 2006. All applications will be reviewed and families will be notified by April 3, 2006. Parents are encouraged to research alternative summer programs since we are not able to accommodate all families who apply. Thank you for your consideration of this process, and if you have further questions please contact Inclusion Director, Lori Kauffman Faison, at 858.362.1123. Located at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, JACOBS FAMILY CAMPUS, Camp Jaycee takes advantage of the JCC's state-of-the-art and spacious facility for classes, projects, games, performances, rehearsals, and more. Campers enjoy every square foot of the JCC! Within the Glickman-Galinson Early Childhood Education Complex, Potiker Family Arts & Culture Complex, and the Qualcomm Sports, Fitness & Aquatics Complex, campers will enjoy the Viterbi Family Galleria, David & Dorothea Garfield Theatre, Foster-Ratner Performing Arts Center, Nierman Preschool, Jacobs & Klein Senior Center & Education Wing, Samuel & Rebecca Astor Judaica Library, Gotthelf Art Gallery, Wax Family Teen Activity Center, Glazer Arts & Crafts Room, Royston Science Lab, Epstein Music Room, Taubman Drama Workshop, Feurzeig Youth Activity Lounge, Jaffe Aerobics Studio, Gotthelf Dance Studio, and Jacobs Family Gymnasium. In addition to our fantastic indoor facility, the JCC is equipped with great outdoor areas including the Edgar Berner Family Ball Fields, Albert A. Hutler Tennis Center, Friedenberg Olympic-size Pool, and Mandell Weiss Eastgate City Park.
A special thank you to our neighbor, La Jolla Country Day School, for the use of their wonderful campus. Our combined facilities offer campers outstanding opportunities for a fun-filled summer in a safe environment. The JCC Learn To Swim Program is one of the many instructional and fun components of camp. Morning swim lessons are designed for all levels of ability. Campers enjoy more fun in the pool during Free Swim. After camp, the JCC Barracudas swim team and swim lessons are offered for extra time in the pool. The ultimate goal of the aquatic staff is to reinforce that swimming is a life-long activity! A wide variety of summer camp activities are offered at Camp Jaycee. Specialty camps focus on sports, performing arts, science, and computers.
Our supervisory staff is a proven, experienced camp staff and we place an emphasis on excellent staff/camper ratios. Camp Jaycee is organized by a mature staff of highly qualified administrators, directors, and unit leaders, many of whom are year round staff of the JCC.
Counselors and specialists are experienced young men and women whose energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and skills make camp a special environment. All staff attends an extensive orientation/training that includes individual and creative programming, group dynamics, conflict resolution, first aid, and safety procedures. Camp Jaycee is fortunate to have three Shlichim (counselors) from Israel as our Judaica specialists. The Shlichim enrich camp with a taste of Israel through their sharing of customs, dancing, music, Hebrew, and more. In addition, every week concludes with a camp-wide joyful celebration of Shabbat. |
