Mad Science: My First Lab

Grade K

Become a junior Mad Scientist! This camp is a great introduction to science. Kindergarten campers explore their sense of sight, sound, smell, taste and touch. Children use a magnifying class to discover the world of creepy crawly creatures. Explore the science of the sea and the fascinating creatures that live there. Campers become paleontologists by searching for fossils and participating in a mini dinosaur dig. Finally, take an exciting mission with Mad> Science to explore the planets,< moons and stars. Take-home projects include a rainbow catcher, binoculars bug box,
T-Rex tooth model and more!


Kicking Kangaroos: Soccer

Grades K–3

After this camp, participants will be able to do "feets" of magic! Professional players and coaches from the Brian Quinn School of Soccer focus on soccer techniques and tactics. A week of great coaching, skill development, and fun—perfect for the beginning player. The JCC's Soccer Camp is the best in town. Campers also enjoy swimming each day.


Traditional

Grades K–3

Do you like to do a little bit of everything? Then our traditional camp is for you. Make friends, swim, create arts & crafts, play sports, and sing camp songs. Best of all, have fun while creating great summer memories!


Mad Science:all stars

Grades K–6

You have been selected to participate on the Mad Science All- Star Team! Learn about famous scientists and inventors who were all-stars in their field of expertise. Follow in their footsteps as we equip you with the science skills needed to rise to the top. Together with your teammates you will build super structures, create a volcanic eruption and examine rocks formed from volcanic magma. Soar high above as you build a kite and glider, and experiment with lift, aerodynamics and air pressure. Discover the secret behind the stars and make a star chart. Take-home projects include: magnetic soccer game, rocket racer, star locator, kite, animal track, crystal garden and more!


One-Week Session: June 16–20

Multi-Sports

Grades 1–6

Campers learn and play a wide variety of sports, including soccer, cricket, dodge ball, track and field, handball and basketball. A low camper to coach ratio combined with individual and small group activities, ensures your child will improve his/her skills in a funfilled, challenging, positive environment.Each day includes swimming.


Ceramics/Art

Grades 1–6

Turn a simple lump of clay into a work of art! This promises to be a very creative and fun-filled week of hand building in clay. Campers use slabs, coils, pinch pots, and a multitude of glazing options while creating animals, tea sets, vases, sea life, and other imaginative projects. Art projects include drawing, watercolor, and acrylic painting. All activities are age appropriate and encourage individual expression. Taught by Avril Butbul, who has over 20 years experience of teaching art to children. Each day includes traditional activities and swimming.


Tennis

Grades 1–8

Marc Pinckney, Head teaching Pro, will lead this tennis-training program, assisted by a staff experienced in working with younger players. Tennis camp is appropriate for campers of all skill levels who wish to improve their game. Each morning will focus on the fundamental areas, covering groundstrokes, serves, volleys, match play, fitness and footwork. Afternoons include traditional camp activities and swimming.


aquatics

Grades 1–6

Great opportunity to get ready for the summer, beach and pool. This camp will provide a combination of swimming lessons, fun games in the water and at the beach. Campers will have 8 half-hour swim lessons during the week, play water basketball, inner tube water polo (swimmers only), spend a day at the beach, learning about ocean safety, and playing games on the beach and in the water. Campers will be grouped into 3 groups according to swimming abilities: non-swimmers, beginning swimmers and improving swimmers. Children in grades 1-4, must be able to stand in the shallow end of our Olympic Pool. Bring sunscreen and a large towel. Campers will be in the sun most of the day. Limit 24 campers.
