One-Week Session: June 16–20

Mad Science: My First Lab

Grade K

Campers explore the different parts of a garden and learn all about seeds, soil, and sprouts. The group will examine fruits and vegetables (plants and leaves) using a microscope designed for preschoolers. Children also learn about interesting creatures that lie in a garden such as butterflies, ladybugs, and bees, and how these creatures can help a garden grow. Take home projects include a seed badge, sun visor, bean necklace, veggie placemat and bug bracelet.


Traditional

Grades K–3

Do you like to do a little bit of everything? Then our traditional camp is for you. Make friends, swim, create arts & crafts, play sports, and sing camp songs. Best of all, have fun while creating great summer memories!

 


Soccer

Grades K–3

After this camp, participants will be able to do “feets” of magic! Professional players and coaches focus on soccer techniques and tactics. A week of great coaching, skill development, and fun, perfect for the beginning player. The JCC’s Soccer Camp is the best in town. Campers also enjoy swimming each day.


Mad Science: NASA Space Academy

Grades 1–6

Mad Science and NASA have teamed up to bring you the excitement and wonder of space in the NASA Space Academy Camp! This is your chance to be a rocket scientist! Explore the science involved in rocket construction as you build and launch your own rocket. Watch an amazing rocket launch as it soars to the sky. Use teamwork to complete an important space mission and build a model space station. Explore the farthest reaches of our solar system and create a lunar eclipse in our Mad Science planetary tour. This stellar camp is your ticket to the stars as you journey through the galaxy. Take home projects include Skyblazer II Rocket, Shuttle Copter, Lightning Launcher, Shimmering Stars, Catch-a-Comet, Kepler’s Cube and more!

 


One-Week Session: June 15–19

Multi-Sports

Grades 1–6

Campers learn and play a wide variety of sports, including soccer, cricket, dodge ball, track and field, handball and basketball. A low camper–coach ratio, combined with individual and small group activities, ensures your child will improve his/her skills in a fun-filled, challenging, positive environment. Each day includes swimming.

 


Ceramics/Art

Grades 1–6

Turn a simple lump of clay into a work of art! This promises to be a very creative and funfilled week of hand-building in clay. Campers use slabs, coils, pinch pots, and a multitude of glazing options while creating animals, tea sets, vases, sea life, and other imaginative projects. Art projects include drawing, watercolor, and canvas painting. All activities are age appropriate and encourage individual expression. Taught by Avril Butbul who has over 20 years experience of teaching art to children. Each day includes traditional activities and swimming.


Tennis

Grades 1–6

Our tennis professionals will lead this tennis-training program, assisted by a staff experienced in working with younger players. Tennis camp is appropriate for campers of all skill levels who wish to improve their game. Each morning will focus on the fundamental areas, covering ground strokes, serves, volleys, match play, fitness and footwork. In the afternoon, the tennis and multi-sport camps will combine for swimming and other sports activities.

 


aquatics

Grades 1–6

This camp is a great opportunity to learn all about the water. Campers will learn pool safety and basic first aid skills to stay safe in and around the water. Campers will have eight (8) half-hour swim lessons led by our American Red Cross certified swim instructors. Campers will also have a fun beach day at La Jolla Shores. During the week, campers will be introduced to different aquatic sports, have a fun water safety lesson and complete a crafts project. Children in grades 1–4 must be able to stand in the shallow end of our Olympic Pool.
