General Information & Rules

• Hours and lane schedules subject to change without notice.
• Price Per Day: $15; JCC Member Price: Free.
• During high school swim and water polo season, the change from long course to short course may be done between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm. We appreciate your understanding during this time of the day.
• Lap lanes are available during operating hours.
• The pool is kept at 81 degrees.
• Diving boards are open during the summer months only.
• No diving or jumping off the blocks unless supervised by a JCC swim instructor or certified swim coach.
• Swim diapers and plastic pants are required for all swimmers who are under the age of 4.
• Children under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. *No persons under the age of 13 are permitted in the spa.

Saturday & Sunday: 8:30 A.M. - 5:00 P.M.
**June 1st - September 1st: pool closes at 6:00 P.M. Friday, Saturday & Sunday.

The Children's Pool

The Children's Pool will Reopen on May 11

• The children's pool is open during regular pool operating hours.
• Swim diapers and plastic pants are required for all swimmers who are under the age of 4.
• All swimmers using children's pool must be with an adult, who is inside children's pool gate, at all times.
• Swimmers over the age of 8 may not use the children's pool - it is for children 8 years and under.

It's never too late to learn how to swim! This class is only for those ages 15 and up who want to learn how to swim or those who are working to perfect the basics of swimming. Our small class sizes allow our American Red cross certified instructors to work with you on achieving your swimming goals.

Prior to registering please note that each class is 45 minutes long and there must be a minimum of 2 registrants to open a session.
Friedenberg Olympic Pool Prices reflect the cost of a 4 class session.

Swim Lessons for Children

Private Swim Lessons
Private lessons are an outstanding way to further your child's swimming ability at their own pace. A private lesson allows for individual attention through one-on-one instruction. Instructors will design the lesson to fit your swimmer's needs and learning style.

Semi Private Swim Lessons
Semi-private swim lessons have no more than three students per class, allowing for more individual attention. Semi-private lessons are scheduled by request. Aquatics management staff schedule semi-private lessons by the availability of all parties. Requested days and times are not guaranteed.

Lesson Info:
• Please sign up at least two weeks prior to when the first private or semi-private lesson is scheduled to begin
• Students will receive eight 25-minute lessons within a session
• If there are fewer than eight lessons in a session the price is prorated
• All swim lessons are taught by American Red Cross Certified swim instructors
• Each lesson is catered to the students specific goals
• Lessons are available to anyone between the ages of 6 months to adult
• Lessons will be scheduled twice a week for four weeks
• All swim lesson times will range from 2 pm - 7 pm

Swim Levels & Descriptions 

Starfish (ages 3–5)
The American Red Cross infant and preschool aquatics
programs are designed to give children the necessary
skills for water adjustment. Children will learn floats,
breathing techniques, and assisted stroke and kick skills.


Advanced Starfish (ages 3–5)
This class is designed for children who have perfected
basic swimming skills in Starfish but are not at the
age to move into Guppies. Children will perfect their
basic skills while being introduced to new techniques


Guppies (ages 6+)
This class is for swimmers with no previous swimming
experience. Swimmers will learn the basic skills like
bobbing, floating, gliding, and kicking. This class will
also cover basic pool rules and safety.

Tadpoles (ages 6+)
Swimmers will refine the basic skills they've learned
in Guppies and be introduced to backstroke and side
breathing. Swimmers will also learn water entry, retrieving
objects from 3 feet of water, and more safety skills.

Dolphins (ages 6+)
Swimmers should already be able to complete two
full laps of front crawl unassisted and one lap of
back crawl unassisted. Swimmers will be introduced
to elementary backstroke, treading water, and dives.

Eels (ages 6+)
Swimmers should already be able to complete three
full laps of front crawl unassisted with good side
breathing and two full laps of backstroke unassisted.
Swimmers will refine elementary backstroke and be
introduced to sidestroke and breaststroke.

Swordfish (ages 6+)
Swimmers should already be able to swim four laps
of front crawl unassisted, and three laps of backstroke
unassisted. Swimmers will refine front crawl, backstroke,
sidestroke, and elementary backstroke.

Shark (ages 6+)
Swimmers must have passed the requirement for Swordfish.
This class is designed for swimmers who have
refined front crawl, backstroke, elementary backstroke,
breaststroke, and sidestroke. Swimmers will complete
butterfly and work on conditioning and endurance.


Swim lessons are scheduled on a monthly basis. Registered participants have the same time slot for the whole month. Payment for swim lessons must be made by 5:00 p.m. on the day the reservation is taken. If payment is not received by 5:00 p.m., aquatics management has the
right to fill the spot with another swim student.
 All JCC corporate members must come in with a membership packet completely filled out and a copy of their corporate badge on the day of registration. Each swim lesson session will be allowed one makeup. All make-ups will be scheduled on Sundays between 10:30 A.M.–2:30 P.M. Make-ups will be made with the same instructor on the Sunday if possible, however it is not guaranteed and the make-up may be with a substitute instructor. Once a make-up is scheduled and confirmed, there will be no rescheduling of the make-up lesson. There are no refunds. Class transfers will be at the
discretion of the Aquatics Management. In the case of a class cancellation by the aquatics facility, Aquatics Management will issue refund for that specific class.
Swim sessions must be cancelled 48 hours prior to the beginning of the swim session. If swim session is cancelled less than 48 hours, there will be a cancellation fee of $30. Cancellation of a swim lesson the day of or no shows during the swim session will not be issued a refund, credit or make-up for that lesson.
