General Information & Rules
• Hours and lane schedules subject to change without notice.
• Price Per Day: $15; JCC Member Price: Free.
• During high school swim and water polo season, the change from long course to short course will be made between 1:30 pm and 2:00 pm. We appreciate your understanding during this time of the day.
• Lap lanes are available during operating hours.
• The pool is kept between 80 - 82 degrees.
• Diving boards are open during the summer months only.
• No diving or jumping off the blocks unless supervised by a JCC swim instructor or certified swim coach.
• Swim diapers and plastic pants are required for all swimmers who are under the age of 4.
• Children under 15 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
• No persons under the age of 13 are permitted in the spa.
• Sign up for the Friedenberg Pool Frequent Swimmer Email list and receive emails regarding sudden pool closures, changes in schedules and programs, and other info. Please email Mary Cotner, Assistant Aquatics Director at firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to the list.

Group Swim Lessons for All Ages
Group lessons are a great way for anyone to advance their swimming skills to the next level. We offer classes for all levels from beginner to advanced. Our small instructor to swimmer ratio ensures improvement at any level. Lessons are scheduled on a monthly basis, twice a week on Monday’s and Wednesday’s or Tuesday’s and Thursday’s between 2:00 pm and 7:15 pm. Preschool Group Levels & Descriptions Ages 3-5 Ratio 3:1
|Seahorse - Level 1:
Intro to Swim- Teaches water safety, blowing bubbles, assisted front and back floating and explores arm and leg movements
*Prerequisite- child is able to participate unaccompanied by a parent
|Starfish - Level 2:
Improve coordination of arm and leg movements, unassisted front and back floating and rolling from front to back, breath control
*Prerequisite- level 1 skills and beginning independence in water
|Sea Turtles - Level 3:
Swimmer should have confidence in floating and basic breath control. Swimmer will achieve basic water competency.
Youth Group Lesson Levels & Descriptions Ages 5-10 Ratio 4:1
|Sand Crabs Level 1:
For the complete beginner! Teaches water safety, breath control, bobbing, floating, gliding and kicking.
|Jellyfish Level 2:
For the beginner swimmer that is comfortable around the water. Participant will improve coordination of arm and leg movements, unassisted front and back floating and rolling from front to back, breath control.
|Sea Otter Level 3:
Swimmers should have confidence in floating and basic breath control. Swimmer will achieve basic water competency.
|Dolphins Level 4:
This class is for swimmers that have a base performing freestyle. Swimmers will improve their proficiency in all four strokes.
|Swordfish Level 5:
Participants should have basic proficiency in all the strokes. This class will refine participant’s strokes so that participants can swim with greater efficiency.
|Shark Level 6:
Swimmers must have passed the requirements for level 5. This class is designed for swimmers who are working on refining stroke work. Swimmers will work on conditioning and endurance. Swimmers will be introduced to flip turns and dives.
Pre-Teen and Teen Group Lesson Levels & Descriptions Ages 11-15 Ratio 5:1
This class is for beginning to intermediate swimmers who want to improve their water confidence with a group of peers. The focus will be on stroke development, stroke technique, and water safety.
Adult Group Lesson Levels & Descriptions Ratio 4:1 Ages 16 & up
Adult Lessons the Basics:
Participants should have none to limited swim experience. Participants will gain basic aquatic skills and swimming strokes.
Adult Lessons Improvement:
Participants should have advanced beginner to intermediate swim experience. Participants will improve proficiency in basic aquatic skills and strokes.

Private & Semi-Private Swim Lessons
For participants ages 6 months and up private and semi-private lessons are available on the same schedule and dates as group lessons. Please arrange your own partner(s), maximum three, for semi-private lessons. Private and Semi-private lessons often have a waiting list. Due to colder weather we do not offer lessons for ages 1 & under November-March. Sorry, there are no makeup lessons, or refunds once a session has started, Lessons are held rain or shine. In the event of a pool closure management will contact you to arrange a class credit.
Lesson payment must be made at the time of registration. A lesson spot will not be held without advanced payment. Swim sessions must be cancelled 48 hours prior to the beginning of the swim session. If swim session is cancelled less than 48 hours, there will be a cancellation fee of $30. Cancellation of a swim lesson the day of or no shows during the swim session will not be issued a refund, credit.

Adult Beginner Swim Lessons
It's Never Too Late to learn how to swim!
This class is for those ages 15 and up who want to learn how to swim or those who are working to perfect the basics of swimming. Our small class sizes allow our American Red Cross certified instructors to work with you on achieving your swimming goals. There must be at least two participants per session.
Classes are Sundays 10:30-11:15am; some months a second class may be offered from 11:15-12:00

Jr. Lifeguard Prep Academy
Jr. Lifeguard Prep Academy
The Jr. Lifeguard Prep Academy is designed to help your child reach their goal of
becoming a San Diego county Jr Lifeguard by preparing them for the Jr. Guard
tryout Encinitas beach lifeguard and longtime competitive swimmer
Sydney Hammerness will work to develop proper stroke technique
and endurance utilizing drills both in and out of the pool.
- Participants are expected to be able to swim 2 lengths of the pool freestyle without assistance on the first day.
Session 1 (Sundays 12:00-1:00pm): February 26, March 5, 19, & 26
Session 2 (Sundays 12:00-1:00pm): April 2, 9, 23, & 30
Session 3: (Sundays 12:00-1:00pm): May 7, 14, 21, 28
