October 31-December 19
9:30 A.M.-12:00 P.M.
$480/member price $400

MSC combines the skills of mindfulness and self-compassion to enhance our capacity for emotional wellbeing. Mindfulness is the first step—turning with loving awareness toward difficult experience (thoughts, emotions, and sensations). Self-compassion comes next—bringing loving awareness to ourselves. Together, mindfulness and self-compassion comprise a state of warm, connected, presence during difficult moments in our lives.

In MSC you’ll learn to:
• Practice mindfulness and self-compassion in daily life
• Understand the science of self-compassion
• Handle difficult emotions with greater ease
• Motivate yourself with kindness rather than criticism
• Transform challenging relationships, old and new
• Manage caregiver fatigue
• Teach simple self-compassion skills to others

The program activities include short talks, experiential exercises, meditation, group discussion, and home practices. In a randomized, controlled study, MSC significantly increased self-compassion, compassion for others, mindfulness, and life satisfaction, as well as decreased depression, anxiety and stress. Improvements were linked to how much a person practiced in their daily lives. This program is designed for members of the general public. Meditation experience is not necessary to participate in MSC. All are welcome!

It is recommended, but not required, that participants read the following two books before participating in MSC:
• Self-Compassion: The Proven Power of Being Kind to Yourself by Kristin Neff
• The Mindful Path to Self-Compassion by Christopher Germer

$36/member price $30
Instructor: Amanda Ringnalda
Dogs are included/invited. And humans without dogs are encouraged too!

Ultimately, our own wellbeing is our dog’s wellbeing. Our life experience, in many cases, is mutual. They share our space, family and heart in a way that no other creatures do. Sometime, they know us better than we know ourselves. They serve and support mankind in incredible ways, and they deserve to live great lives.

In this 90-minute class we’ll explore the nature of dogs, each as a unique individual. You’ll learn to assess YOUR dog in body and mind, and better understand exactly what your pup needs to be its happiest, healthiest self.

You’ll understand how to connect, bond and understand your canine companion far better. Imagine how our relationship can grow from improved communication!

The foundation of the teachings in this class, and with all of Amanda’s work, is the 5,000-year-old “science of life” known as Ayurveda. The sister-science to yoga and meditation, Ayurveda, is an intuitive, entirely natural and whole-being approach to attaining exceptional overall wellbeing; both human and canine.

Our class will include:
• A walk around the area to get everyone’s energy grounded and aligned
• Sit down for a conversation and presentation
• Learn the basics of Ayurveda and how it applies to dogs
• Explanation of the “6 Pathways to Creating a Sama Dog” = a whole-being-balanced dog
• Demonstrations and exercises with your dogs such as massage, partnered breathing, and eye gazing; group interaction
