Jewish Poets-Jewish Voices

Jewish Poets-Jewish Voices: Jewish Poets-Jewish Voices is now in its 16th season! These free programs, held Tuesday evenings, 7:00 p.m. in the Astor Judaica Library, will be January 16, March 5, and May 7, 2024. The JP-JV committee meets annually to select program participants. The January and March programs will feature three local poets during the first hour, followed by a half hour of open mic. All programs conclude with receptions for the audience to mingle with the presenters. The January program will feature Amelia Glaser, Adam Deutch, and Herb Brin's poetry read by his son, David Brin. The May program will feature two poets of the past, Yiddish poet, Abraham Sutzkever, and Israeli poet, Dahlia Ravikovich, at the Jewish Poets of the Past program. Season 16 of Jewish Poets-Jewish Voices concludes with Jewish Poets of the Past featuring the works of Yiddish poet, Abraham Sutzkever, and Israeli poet, Dahlia Ravikovitch. Various readers will recite the original works in Hebrew and Yiddish along with English translations, plus song performances by Elisheva Edelson.
