Cardboard Boat Race and End of Summer Bash

Navigate your way to the J for the 3rd Annual Cardboard Boat Race during this year’s End of Summer Bash. Using only cardboard, duct tape, and creativity, dare to build your own boat to get one or 2 people across the pool in record time. To participate in the Cardboard Boat Race you must be a current JCC member.
End of Summer Bash Festivities to follow. Including, JCC Cookout, free swim at the pool, and a family-friendly concert by nationally touring children’s musician Jason Mesches and the Nosh Pit.
Space is limited, register today! Participants will receive special JCC swag. The end of Summer Bash is open to all members and you do not need to participate in the boat race to enjoy. Spectators are encouraged!
Race Divisions
- Teams may consist of 1-2 team members
- Ages 4-6 (An adult must accompany in the water)
- 7-11
- 12-15
- 16+
Race Rules
- Registration is required by Tuesday, August 22, 2023
- Cardboard and duct tape are the only materials permitted
- Only homemade paddles made of cardboard and duct tape are allowed.
- Boat check-in begins at 10:30 am
- Boats may be decorated with permanent markers or duct tape (paint will not be permitted)
- Name of the boat should be on both sides in big letters
- Each boat must carry at least one or two people across the pool
- Boats too large to be carried by two people are not allowed
- Boats MUST be built prior to the race
- Children under age 7 must have an adult in the water and be able to swim
- Each division will be broken up into heats
- Boats will race the full length of the shallow end of the pool
- The race must begin and end with all crew intact
