Cardboard Boat Challenge @ Final Summer Fun Night
Thursday, September 4, 2025
4:00 pm - 6:30 pm

We’re closing out the summer with a fan favorite—the Cardboard Boat Challenge—at our Final Summer Fun Night! Put your creativity and engineering skills to the test in one of two ways. Then stick around for the last pool party of the season!.
Use cardboard, duct tape, and your best design to build a boat that can carry one or two people across the pool. Race to the finish—fastest team to cross without sinking wins. Bonus points for style and staying dry! Space is limited for the boat race - reserve your spot before space fills up!
Mini Boat Float:
Build a small cardboard boat and see if it floats—no swimming required. Cheer from the sidelines as your mini creation takes its first (and hopefully successful) voyage.
Rules & Registration:
- Card Board Boat Race Registration deadline: Monday, September 1, or until the race reaches capacity—whichever comes first
- Boat Construction: All boats must be made prior to the event
- Materials: Only cardboard and duct tape are allowed for building boats.
- Paddles: Must be homemade using only cardboard and duct tape. No other materials allowed.
- Decoration: Boats may be decorated with permanent markers or duct tape. Paint is not allowed.
- Boat Identification: The boat’s name must be clearly displayed in large letters on both sides.
Size & Capacity:
- Full-sized Cardboard Boats must carry one or two people across the pool.
- Boats too large to be carried by two people will not be allowed.
- Mini Boats should be no larger than a small box or a piece of printer paper (about 8.5 x 11 inches). Small enough to float and just the right size to test your creativity!
Safety:
- Children under age 5 must have an adult in the water with them and be able to swim.
Race Details:
- Boats will race the full length of the shallow end of the pool.
- The race starts and ends with all crew members onboard and intact.
