Private Piano Lessons

Grades K-6

Susanna Belokamen holds a Master’s degree from the Odessa Conservatory of Music in the former USSR. She was on the faculty of the Music School for Children in Odessa, where she specialized in classical piano from the ages of six to sixteen, preparing them for competitions, recitals and music college entrance. She has 40 years’ experience teaching classical piano. jazz, popular music, theory and music history. Since 1989 she has been successfully teaching many children and adults in San Diego, CA. She loves working with children to help them discover the amazing gift of music.

Session includes: 30 minute lessons once a week for 8 weeks. Lessons will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays. 

Chuck Ritter is an aspiring young musician/composer who teaches piano, voice and music theory. Currently he is the rehearsal pianist and vocal coach for the musical theatre department at Grossmont College.

Private Guitar Lessons

Grades K-6

For all skill levels and styles, from classical to rock.

Jonathan Davis earned his Bachelor's degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Arizona and his Master’s degree (also in Classical Guitar Performance) from the University of Akron, where he was awarded a full scholarship as a graduate teaching assistant. Mr. has performed in  master classes for some of the most well-known guitarists in the world, including Pepe Romero, David Russell, and Paul Galbraith. Jonathan Davis has experience performing classical music in a variety of settings and regularly plays electric guitar in a rock band. His debut solo CD, Très Viste, features music ranging from the Baroque to the Twentieth Century.

Private Piano Lessons

Ruth Mayhew received her Master’s degree from Northwestern University and her Bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University in Wisconsin, both in Music. She also has a teaching certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She has taught beginning piano lessons to very young students, starting at age 4. She tries to foster a love of Music while teaching the basics of Piano and Music Theory. Students will be encouraged to perform in recitals build confidence in presenting themselves in public.

Private Violin Lessons

Suzuki Private Violin Lessons (Ages 4 & Up)

Amy Darnell is a graduate of the University of South Carolina, where she studied violin performance. Mrs. Darnell is a Suzuki certified teacher and has been teaching violin for 7 years. Amy has been a member in numerous orchestras in South Carolina & California, and also has soloist and chamber music experience. Amy is currently a member of the La Jolla Symphony & strives to help children of all ages reach their musicianship goals.  

Corrie Bunnell spent the first 10 years of her musical career performing and touring with a classical string quintet in concert halls around the nation. She began her training at the young age of 2 years old, and then went on to study under Hernon Constanino, Mary Gerard, Michael Tseitlin and the concert master of the San Diego Symphony, Jeff Thayer. She has been privately teaching violin since she was 13 years old.

Session includes 30 minute lessions, once a week for 8 weeks. Lessons will be held on Mondays.

Private Flute Lessons

Session includes: 30-minute Lessons–Once a week for 8 weeks!

Ruth Mayhew received her Master’s degree from Northwestern University and her Bachelor’s degree from Lawrence University in Wisconsin, both in Flute Performance. She also has a teaching certificate from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Ruth just moved from Massachusetts where she finished her 11th season as Symphony Pro Musica’s principal flutist. She also subs with the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra in Florida. In addition to playing for President Clinton at the White House, she has performed with many Symphonies and Chamber groups. She has taught every level from beginner through college, and enjoys each stage of development.

Pre K-K

Discover your inner Mozart and put yourself on the fast track to musical success! Fully narrated, interactive software provides our campers the ability to read music, play piano, compose and improvise in this fun, innovative and engaging camp!


Concert Band Camp

Grades 4-10

It's Camp Jaycee's first-ever full band camp! Further develop and share your love and passion for playing and making music while advancing your skills. Large ensemble rehearsals and instrumental sections included as music comes alive. Flute, oboe, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, trumpet, French horn, trombone, baritone, tuba, bass guitar, upright bass and percussion instruments. Basic knowledge of at least one of the listed instruments offered and basic ability to read music required. 

Strings Camp

Grades 4-9

Music comes alive at Camp Jaycee's brand new Strings Camp! Camp Jaycee proudly teams up with renowned musicians to offer this once-in-a-lifetime camp. Discover fellow music enthusiasts, listen to live classical concerts, learn the building blocks of music. One-on-one instruction plus plenty of group ensemble. 

Beginning Band/Stomp Camp

Grades 4-10

Dreaming about the day you could pick up an instrument and join the band? This camp is perfect for you! Learn to read and perform music on the instrument of choice. Flute, clarinet, trumpet, trombone, baritone, bass guitar, xylophone, bucket drums, piano and more come alive in this one-week post specialty camp, perfect for the musician in everyone!

Beginning Orchestra/Stomp Camp

Grades 4-8

Dreaming about the day you'll showcase your skills at Carnegie Hall? Than join us in this fabulous one-week post-post specialty camp! Learn to read and perform music with a group and watch yourself progress to beautiful sounds in just a few short days. Your choice of instruments include the violin, viola, cello and bass guitar. You'll also learn bucket drums, piano, ukulele and more! The week concludes with a concert to showcase your skills!
