The Talmud was compiled 1,500 years ago as a way to preserve the oral traditions of the Jewish faith. Since then, it has challenged and thrilled those who have studied it with its complex approach to exploring ideas from virtually every possible angle. This talk will describe the unique historical situation which led to the Talmud’s formation, its importance to the development of modern Judaism, and make the ancient text of the 'oral Torah' more accessible for all.
