Position Title: Personal Trainer

PAY RATE/STATUS: $47.50 per hour / Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

Under the direction of the Fitness Program Manager, and in collaboration with the Directors of Sports, Fitness & Aquatics, the Personal Trainer conducts fitness assessments and develops personalized training programs for clients. This position is responsible for developing fitness programs that meet the individual needs of each client. Responsibilities include ensuring equipment is used safely and appropriately, motivating clients to reach their goals, and fostering positive relationships with JCC members and staff.

DUTIES:

  • Establishing and growing a client base. 
  • Scheduling and conducting orientations. 
  • Providing individualized training sessions tailored to attainable goals. 
  • Observing clients to ensure they are performing exercises correctly.  
  • Staying current on training credentials to ensure clients are always getting the most of their workout experience. 
  • Monitoring client progress and adapting programs as needed. 
  • Referring participants to professionals with appropriate training and expertise beyond your scope of knowledge.
  • Promoting additional workouts and fitness classes within the offering of the LFJCC. 
  • Developing relationships and encouraging member referrals. 
  • Answering and offering suggestions to members who are not your clients. 
  • Developing and maintaining relationships based on trust and service. 
  • Working effectively with a wide variety of people, staff and community.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • 2+ years Personal Training experience preferred.
  • Possess and maintain a current personal training certification from a nationally recognized organization such as ACE, NASM, ISSA, AFAA, NFPT, NETA, ACSM etc.
  • Strong knowledge of exercise science, anatomy, and physiology.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications must stay current.
  • Ability to maintain and coordinate client schedules, fostering positive client relationships and experiences.
  • Ability to adapt training programs to accommodate different fitness levels and abilities.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Position Title: Scenic Theatre Technician 

PAY RATE/STATUS: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour DOE / Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

The Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center is currently seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Scenic Theatre Technician to bring creative visions to life on stage. The Scenic Theater Technician supports the technical execution of live performances, events, and productions, with a primary focus on scenic construction, fabrication, and theatrical painting. This position is responsible for building, installing, maintaining, and repairing scenic elements and contributing to the safe and efficient operation of theater productions.

While scenic work is the primary focus of the role, the Scenic Theater Technician is encouraged to utilize additional technical theater skills- including lighting, sound, props, costumes, rigging, automation, carpentry, and stage operations- to support the overall production team. The ideal candidate is a skilled and versatile technician who is resourceful, safety-conscious, collaborative, and comfortable adapting to the changing needs of a live production environment.

DUTIES:

  • Performing a variety of duties related to the general maintenance and repair of the theater facilities and equipment as assigned.
  • Installing rigging, lighting, video and sound equipment, and scenery for theatrical, musical, lecture, and other entertainment events in The Garfield Theatre, or other required locations on or offsite.
  • Scenic Construction: Build flats, platforms, wagons, and structural scenic elements using wood, metal, foam, and composites.
  • Scenic Painting: Execute base coats, textures, faux finishes, aging/distressing, and color matching.
  • Rigging Support: Assist with safe installation of flown scenery and mechanical elements.
  • Load-in & Strike: Support efficient setup, changeovers, and dismantling of scenic elements.
  • Maintenance: Repair damaged scenery, reinforce structures, and maintain paint treatments.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with designers, stage management, and other technicians.
  • Shop Organization: Maintain tools, inventory materials, and uphold a clean, safe workspace.
  • Cross-Department Support: Apply any additional theater skills (lighting, sound, props, costumes, automation, carpentry, or stage crew experience) when beneficial to the production.
  • Documentation: Maintain build notes, paint formulas, and repair logs.
  • Communicating with staff openly and effectively.
  • Attending and participating in all scheduled meetings and training sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Proficiency in carpentry, joinery, and safe operation of power tools.
  • Strong scenic painting skills: color theory, washes, glazes, scumbling, dry brushing, and faux finishes.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and paint elevations.
  • Familiarity with welding, pneumatics, casters, or specialty fabrication (preferred).
  • Knowledge of theatrical materials and how they respond under lighting.
  • Experience and proficiency on Genie and Scissor Lifts.
  • Positive attitude, ability to remain calm and respond confidently and promptly to stressful situations, ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple, simultaneous tasks; finish projects on time.

Position Title: Theatre Technician

PAY RATE/STATUS: $22.00 - $27.00 per hour DOE / Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

The Theatre Technician is a versatile member of the production team responsible for supporting all technical aspects of theatrical productions, concerts, live events, educational programming, rentals, and facility operations at The Garfield Theatre and other designated venues. This position performs a wide range of technical duties involving lighting, audio, video, rigging, scenic construction, painting, backstage operations, and facility support while providing exceptional customer service to internal departments, guest artists, rental clients, and patrons.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical proficiency across multiple production disciplines, excellent communication skills, a commitment to safety, sound judgment, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.

DUTIES:

  • Support the setup, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and strike of technical equipment for theatrical productions, concerts, lectures, meetings, rentals, community events, and special events.
  • Install, operate, maintain, troubleshoot, and assist with programming theatrical lighting, audio, video, and projection systems, including ETC lighting control systems and Ion consoles, Yamaha digital mixing consoles, wired and wireless microphones, portable and small PA systems, playback and presentation systems, and Mac/PC-based multimedia equipment.
  • Hang, circuit, address, focus, and strike lighting instruments; maintain lighting fixtures, dimmers, cables, connectors, and related electrical equipment; and diagnose and repair basic lighting and electrical issues.
  • Read and interpret lighting plots, electrical drawings, production paperwork, construction drawings, CAD/shop drawings, schematics, and technical plans.
  • Support scenic construction, repair, modification, installation, and removal using wood, metal, plastics, and other theatrical materials. Perform scenic painting, including base coats, textures, faux finishes, and other theatrical finishing techniques.
  • Install, operate, and maintain theatrical rigging and stage machinery, including counterweight fly systems, curtains, wagons, scenic automation, and special effects equipment such as haze and fog systems. Assist with rigging inspections and routine maintenance.
  • Participate in production load-ins, rehearsals, performances, changeovers, load-outs, and strikes, providing technical and backstage support as assigned.
  • Serve as a member of the backstage running crew; execute scene changes; assist with props movement and presets; follow cues from the Stage Manager and Technical Director; and maintain safe backstage traffic flow and communication.
  • Safely operate hand and power tools, lifts, ladders, and shop equipment, and perform routine facility maintenance related to technical operations.
  • Maintain technical equipment, tools, workspaces, storage areas, inventories, production paperwork, and equipment records in a clean, organized, and safe condition, including proper equipment storage and cable management.
  • Provide courteous, professional technical support and customer service to internal users, guest artists, rental clients, volunteers, and visiting production personnel while supporting facility rentals and community events.
  • Participate in emergency response procedures, facility safety initiatives, staff and production meetings, and required training.
  • Work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as required by production and facility schedules.

Position Title: Assistant Swim Coach 

PAY RATE/STATUS: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour DOE / Part-Time, Non-Exempt 

Are you excited to make a positive impact in young athletes' lives through the sport of swimming? Do you have a passion for coaching and experience developing swimmers from entry level to high level competitors? If so, the Lawrence Family JCC may be the perfect fit for you. Under the supervision and direction of the Barracuda Head Coach, the Assistant Swim Coach plays a key role in developing, organizing, and delivering all aspects of the JCC Barracuda Swim Team program. This position provides leadership, instruction, and motivation to swimmers ages 5 to 18, in alignment with JCC policies and procedures. The ideal candidate is energetic, knowledgeable, and passionate about swimming, and fosters a safe, supportive environment that promotes skill development and team spirit. 

DUTIES:

  • Assist with the implementation of structured swim training programs for all skill levels, emphasizing technique, endurance, and speed.
  • Coach and develop swimmers according to USA Swimming guidelines and best practices
  • Actively support the growth of the JCC Barracuda Swim Team program.
  • Participate in team practices averaging 2.5-5 hours per day, 4-5 days per week
  • Attend swim meets (hours vary based on the meet).
  • Participate in team events such as parent meetings and social gatherings.
  • Establish and maintain communication with swimmers and parents within the guidelines of USA Swimming and SafeSport.
  • Assist the Head Coach with the team practice schedule and meet schedule.
  • Engage and support all JCC Barracuda swimmers, whether they seek to compete at high levels of swimming, or simply enjoy swimming as a recreational sport for exercise and health.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Must be able to pass a state and federal background check.
  • Ability to maintain all the swim coaching certifications required by, and remain in good standing with, USA Swimming.

Position Title: Swim Instructor

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Security & Sports, Fitness & Aquatics (SF&A) and the Assistant Director of Sports, Fitness, & Aquatics (SF&A), the Swim Instructor is responsible for planning their availability and teaching private swim lessons for members and non-members of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center, Friedenberg Olympic Pool. This position maintains consistent communication with the Sports, Fitness & Aquatics (SF&A) Operations Specialist to support smooth and efficient operations.  

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Current Certificates required: American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, or equivalent. 
  • Responsible for keeping all licenses up to date.
  • Minimum of 1 year previous swim instructor experience.
  • Ability to communicate in a polite and courteous manner.
  • Ability to work independently and possess energy and enthusiasm.
  • Ability to be punctual to all scheduled shifts/lessons.

Under the direction of the Senior Director of Security & Sports, Fitness & Aquatics and the Assistant Director of Sports, Fitness, & Aquatics, the Lifeguard is responsible for the safety of members and participants in and around the aquatic facility. This position proactively prevents accidents and responds to emergencies by adhering to policies set forth by the American Red Cross and the JCC Aquatics team. The Lifeguard provides vigilant supervision of members and non-members at the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center’s Friedenberg Olympic Pool, ensuring a safe, secure, and welcoming environment at all times. This position maintains consistent communication with the Sports, Fitness & Aquatics (SF&A) Operations Specialist to support smooth and efficient daily operations.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

  • Must be at least 16 years old.
  • Current certificates required - American Red Cross Lifeguarding/First-Aid Certification, American Red Cross Blood Pathogen, American Red Cross CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer.
