Cantor Hanan Leberman

Hanan moved to Israel from the United States when he was 20 years old. He joined the IDF’s undercover-counter terrorist unit Duvdevan, where he served three years and continues his reserve duty to this day. Hanan started his studies in classical vocal performance as a lyric tenor at the Jerusalem Academy of Music in 2011. In May 2016 Hanan sang his first principal role on an international stage at Glyndebourne in Die Meistersingers von Nurnberg directed by Sir David Mcvicar with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Since, Hanan has starred in operas and musical theatre performances in England, Italy, and Israel. In 2018 Hanan played Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach in the Broadway production of Soul Doctor in Jerusalem. In 2018 Hanan was AJC's ceremonial singer at the global forum. Hanan has been serving Tifereth Israel synagogue in San Diego, California as guest chazzan for the last four years and has been a guest in synagogues all over the world bringing communities together with Shabbat, music, storytelling, and joy.
