JCompany JUNIOR allows our youngest artists, 4-7 years old, to learn the basics of theatre while creating fun, lively characters from some of the best children’s stories and shows (Winnie the Pooh, The Wizard of Oz, Finding Nemo and more). Throughout this nine-week experience, students will tap into their imagination and learn acting techniques to help them build confidence onstage. The JCompany JUNIOR experience culminates in an exciting showcase for friends and family. This is the perfect opportunity for our youngest artists to grow before joining JCompany mainstage shows! No audition necessary.

Seven is a riveting documentary play in which seven women give voice to the voiceless. Created with the support of Vital Voices Global Partnership, the play is a collaboration between the playwrights and seven female activists from around the globe who faced life-threatening obstacles before bringing heroic changes to their home countries of Pakistan, Nigeria, Ireland, Afghanistan, Guatemala, Russia and Cambodia. Their stories of overcoming adversity to effect real change and improve the lives of women will inspire everyone. L.A. Theatre Works has been the foremost radio theater company in the United States for four decades and is broadcast weekly on public radio stations and the BBC. The cast, TBA, includes recognizable and respected television, theater, and film actors.

Dance & Acting: Erin Petersen


Erin Petersen is thrilled to be joining the JCompany team! Erin frequently finds herself running around town choreographing and directing young artists from San Diego Junior Theatre, Character Kids, Prodigy School of the Arts and Intrepid Theatre Company. She can also been seen on stage, most recently in MOXIE’s production of Skinless. She works closely with Intrepid Theatre Company as their Internship Program Manager. Past acting credits include: HICKORY DICKORY, Ten Cent Night (MOXIE Theatre Co), An Enemy of the People, Richard II, Romeo & Juliet, Shakespeare for a New Generation Education Tour (Intrepid Theatre Company). You may have seen Erin’s choreography in DOCTOR DOLITTLE at SDJT, directed by your very own JCompany Artistic Director, Joey Landwehr.

Voice: Morgan Carberry


Morgan Carberry works as a professional actor, music director and vocal coach for students throughout San Diego County. She has played roles at most regional theatres in San Diego including Cygnet, San Diego Rep, San Diego Musical Theatre, New Village Arts and more. She aspires to help her students achieve their goals as young artists at JCompany and beyond. Morgan's students have performed at the Old Globe, the Barn Stage Company, Cygnet, and of course in many JCompany productions.

Morgan began her dramatic career at the age of five while training as an actor, singer and classical musician on piano, flute, violin, and organ. She continued her education at Wellesley College in Boston and holds three masters degrees from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, the Drama Centre London, and Queen Margaret University in Edinburgh. After spending 10 years living and working in the United Kingdom, she returned to her native San Diego where she has grown a flourishing vocal studio alongside her own performance career.

Morgan loves teaching in the supportive and creative environment at JCompany, where she enjoys helping her students to learn valuable performance skills, gain confidence and build lifelong friendships through the performing arts. She schedules on a flexible basis and aims to allow maximum versatility so that each student has a comfortable and fun environment in which to learn and grow.

Voice & Piano: Kyle Blair


Dr. Kyle Adam Blair is a pianist, vocal coach, and music director who has resided in the San Diego area since 2011. Kyle’s major musical passions can be reduced down to two main themes: playing the piano and working with singers!

He is equally fascinated with opera, artsong, and musical theatre repertoire, and has worked extensively in all three arenas. During his time at UC San Diego Kyle was a mainstay in the Department of Theatre and Dance; music directing, coaching singers, and composing and arranging music for premieres of new plays by graduate student playwrights and faculty members alike. In the Music department, Kyle acted as the vocal coach for the preparation of two operatic premieres over the last three years, and also music directed a large production of Berthold Brecht and Kurt Weill’s The Threepenny Opera along with the kallisti ensemble in 2015. Kyle has also accompanied hundreds of singers in recitals across the country and in the San Diego area, specialized in 20th and 21st century American music styles.

Kyle has acted as a music director for JCompany since 2017, working with the casts of Les Miserábles, Beauty and the Beast, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Newsies, Jr.

Kyle received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Contemporary Music Performance from the University of California, San Diego in June 2018.

Voice: Lorea Herald


Lorea Herald is a San Diego native, graduating from San Diego State University with a BA in Secondary Choral Education. She has served San Diego as an accompanist, vocalist, vocal/audition coach and choral director since 1960. In 1993 "Miss Lorea" embarked on a new career, working with some of San Diego's most successful children's musical theatre production companies. She has served as instructor for Voice and Theatre Classes, as well as Musical Director for San Diego Junior Theatre, JCompany Youth Theatre, Rising Stars San Diego, Star Theatre's Coast Kids and more. In 2001, Lorea served as Music Director for the newly renovated Star Theatre in Oceanside, opening its doors with their adult production of "Fiddler on the Roof". Along with the many productions she has musically directed, Lorea composed a new musical score for "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", premiered in 1995, by JCompany.

"Miss Lorea's" passion and musical emphasis is in teaching, and in the awakening of the artistic and creative expression in each of her students, regardless of their age. She teaches in several locations in San Diego, working as a vocal and audition coach, and has been blessed with many opportunities to encourage and support her younger students as they grow into strong and confident performers. Seeing her student’s self-confidence rise and their success in their artistic endeavors is her greatest reward.

Mary Elledge was born in northern Minnesota and began studying piano at an early age. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from Moorhead State University and her Master of Arts degree from the University of Iowa, where she studied with John Simms and was the staff pianist for the opera, chorus, orchestra, and studio teachers. She has been on the faculty of the MacPhail College of Music in Minneapolis, and the University of Minnesota. She taught public school music in Fargo, North Dakota, Rockford, Iowa and Minneapolis. Presently Mrs. Elledge has a private piano studio in San Diego, California. She is a strong advocate of incorporating all styles of music in students' studies. Mary Elledge has authored Dixieland Duos and More Dixieland Duos with James "Red" McLeod and Festival Solos, Books 1 and 2, with Bruce Pearson. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota, Kappa Delta Pi and the Music Teachers' Association of California.

It is his firm belief that music lessons are not only a way to learn how to play an instrument or sing, but a way to learn how to overcome challenges, keep a calm steady mind under pressure, and exhibit empathy towards others in varying situations. Susanna Belokamen holds a Master’s degree from the Odessa Conservatory of Music in the former USSR. She was on the faculty of the Music School for Children in Odessa, where she specialized in classical piano from the ages of six to sixteen, preparing them for competitions, recitals and music college entrance. She has 40 years’ experience teaching classical piano. jazz, popular music, theory and music history. Since 1989 she has been successfully teaching many children and adults in San Diego, CA. She loves working with children to help them discover the amazing gift of music.

Private Guitar Lessons

Jonathan Davis earned his Bachelor's degree in Classical Guitar Performance from the University of Arizona and his Master’s degree (also in Classical Guitar Performance) from the University of Akron, where he was awarded a full scholarship as a graduate teaching assistant. Mr. Davis has performed in master classes with some of the most well-known guitarists in the world, including Pepe Romero, David Russell, and Paul Galbraith. Jonathan Davis has experience performing classical music in a variety of settings and regularly plays electric guitar in a rock band. His debut solo CD, Très Viste, features music ranging from the Baroque to the Twentieth Century.

Violin Lessons


Corrie Bunnell spent the first 10 years of her musical career performing and touring with a classical string quintet in concert halls around the nation. She began her training at the young age of 2 years old, and then went on to study under Hernon Constanino, Mary Gerard, Michael Tseitlin and the concert master of the San Diego Symphony, Jeff Thayer. She has been privately teaching violin since she was 13 years old.
