Cameron Chang, private voice, acting, and audition prep

Cameron Chang was born and raised here in sunny San Diego, California where he began performing and singing at the age of 7 at this very theater! He feels incredibly honored to teach voice and acting at the place where his passion for performing began. During his childhood, he performed in many musicals, trained in voice with esteemed San Diego vocal coaches, and participated in his high school’s conservatory program. He has studied under acclaimed Broadway actors including longtime Lion King performer Thom Christopher Warren and Shakespeare veteran Mark Mineart, and attended masterclasses taught by Andrew Lippa, Randy Skinner, Dee Hoty, Corey Michael Smith, and Kate Baldwin. Cameron also had the distinct joy of being a member of his college improv comedy team, Mainstage Improv (the highlight of his time there), and directing his own productions including readings of new works and staged versions of film sequences. Cameron’s professional theatre credits include Oklahoma (Carnes) and Snoopy! (Snoopy) at Otterbein Summer Theatre, The Wizard of Oz (Scarecrow) at Sierra Repertory Theatre, King Leo’s New Clothes (King Leo) at Legoland California Resort and the National Tour of Dogman: The Musical (Petey) with TheatreWorks USA, where the cast had the honor of performing for Lin Manuel Miranda and his son.

Cameron is passionate about sharing his love of performance and art with young artists, and helping them find their true, authentic voice as a singer and an actor. Cameron’s teaching approach emphasizes clarity, action, technique, humor, and confidence. He also specializes in “pop rock” style singing, as well as classic rock and R&B. In his free time, Cameron  is an avid film buff and enjoys writing reviews and analyses on movies. You can also find him cheering on his favorite NBA team, the Lakers.
